LEAF’s FIRST AWARDS

LEAF wins 2010 Auto Express New Car Award

LEAF won the coveted Special Award at the Auto Express New Car Awards 2010. This award, which comes eight months before LEAF even goes on sale, gives an excellent indication of how promising the future will be, for the world’s first affordable mass produced zero emission vehicle.

The Special Award is given in recognition of the best new innovation in the motor industry, recognising the new vehicle manufacturer, technology or initiative that delivers the biggest benefits to motorists. The Auto Express judges were unanimous in choosing LEAF for the honour (which was won by the Fiat eco: Drive in 2009).

Auto Express said: “Having tried the LEAF we know that it’s rather good. The best news of all though, is that Nissan plans to build the groundbreaking model right here in Britain.”

Nissan nominations

There were an impressive number of Nissan nominations across the categories delivering a ringing endorsement for the range. Nominations included Pixo for Best City Car; Note for Best Supermini MPV; Qashqai for Best Crossover; X-Trail for Best Compact SUV; the 370Z for Best Roadster and both Juke and LEAF were nominated for the Design Award.

All press releases are available from the Nissan UK press website.
